New York, New York

‘Go at least once a year to a place you have never been before.’
– Dalai Lama

I can’t believe it’s been more than 2 months since we’ve visited New York.
It has always been on top of my ‘list of places I would love to visit’ one day, and it was everything I had imagined it to be.
It has definitely become one of my favourite cities and I cannot wait to go back and explore it more.

Celebrating Life

Last week to celebrate my birthday early, my family and I went on a mini holiday to Bali for a week.
It was our first time and it was beautiful.
The food, the colours, the sunsets and not to mention the people.
It was the perfect place to just pause, breathe and celebrate life.

You know the saying, “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.”?
It couldn’t be more true.

Palais Schönburg, Vienna Wedding – Vintage Romantic Styled Shoot

When we started dabbling in photography 4 years ago, I never would have thought that it would take me to where I am now.
Somehow, following your dreams also comes with great self-doubt and fear of the unknown, especially when you’re only starting out.
But when you have people in your life who believe in you and want nothing for you but to succeed, nothing is impossible.
I should also add that my husband alone is equivalent to one army when it comes to supporting me and making sure I never give up.

This beautiful styled-shoot was organised by my amazing and talented sister, Katherine.
I’ve always considered myself lucky to be able to work with some awesome people in the industry – both here in New Zealand and Austria – so getting the opportunity to work with my sister was definitely a bonus.

Palais Schönburg was filled with so many intricate details, which set the mood for the entire shoot.
I’ve always loved everything vintage and romantic, so having this beautiful palace as the backdrop for this shoot was definitely a treat.
Add the group of these amazing vendors who made it all possible – and it was a dream come true!

Still Here

Hello! Yes, I am still alive!
If you have been following me on Facebook, you probably know that my family and I have recently gone on a ‘working holiday’ to Europe.
We’ve been back for 3 weeks now and I thought it’s time for another blogpost!
This blog has been neglected for quite awhile and to be honest, I have a lot of photos to show you guys from our trip.
So I guess I better post them before the next wedding season starts!

Another thing I love about what I do is the places it takes me and the wonderful people I get to meet.
This year we documented 2 weddings, 3 engagement sessions and we even got to photograph a styled shoot in Vienna, Austria during this trip and it was AWESOME.
Don’t worry, we still managed to take some well deserved breaks in between to recharge  the mind, body and soul.
We’re already looking forward to going back and doing it all over again next year!

I’ll be really good and will try to blog all of them, because they really deserve to have their own blogposts, but for now, here’s a few sneak peeks.
More soon, promise.

A bit more soul

I finished editing these photos last night and thought writing about this whole experience would be the easy part.
I. was. wrong.
I have been sitting in front of my computer for the past 2 hours and I still can’t seem to find the words to describe what I felt during those 4 days I spent with these amazing people.
What I thought would just be a simple retreat learning about other people’s journey proved to be something way beyond than what I had expected. Something I didn’t even realise I needed so badly.
Yes, listening to Kate, Fiona, Jake, Mike, Oli, Sophie, Simon, Emma and Pete talk about their journey was incredible but them pouring their hearts out and giving us a piece of their soul is something that I will forever be grateful for.

I have learnt that it’s the people and the relationships you build along the way that makes this whole journey worthwhile and I’m really glad I found friends who are willing to break down their walls and grow together.
People, who, like me are just fumbling in the dark and  learning as they go.

1920’s Styled Wedding Shoot: The Landing

If there is one word I could think of that would best describe this shoot, it would be ‘perfection’.
Seriously, I couldn’t stop saying ‘wow’ and ‘amazing’ while I was taking photos, which isn’t really surprising given that I was working with such talented and awesome people.
It is always a huge pleasure and honour working with them, whether it be on a styled shoot or a real wedding. So if you have any of these vendors at your wedding, you’re in good hands.

Many thanks to this group of amazing people who made this shoot come to life:
